Lee Thompson, MS, LPC, NCC

Lee joined the Garrett Counseling team in 2021, immediately after finishing his masters degree! He is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC04927). He has a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Birmingham-Southern College and Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Jacksonville State University.

Lee enjoys working with teens and younger children. He says, “I started out, before I was licensed, working with teens who were at a residential addiction treatment center and had been arrested for drug related charges. They taught me so much about trauma and experience.” He uses an approach to therapy that consists of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person/Child Centered Therapy (including Play Therapy), and Strength Based Therapy.

Lee practices wellness by traveling abroad, playing video games, watching scary movies, play tennis, and spending time with his fiancé. He has a dog named Tojo who is a mixed breed, but primarily Chow Chow. A few interesting facts to help you get to know Lee better: His favorite books include "Meditations" by Marcus Aurelius, "Man's Search for Meaning" by Viktor Frankl, and any book by Stephen King. He finds a special connection with "Raymond Reddington" from The Blacklist. Lee says, "It sounds bad since he is a notorious criminal, "The Concierge of Crime". But he is very cultured, loves traveling, and enjoys experience and learning. I learn something new from him in the show often, whether it be new places, foods, words, and others."
