Counselor Shalonda, EdD, LPC

Shalonda joined the Garrett Counseling team in 2022, but she has been working in the counseling field for over 8 years! She is a Licensed Professional Counselor (3862). She has a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education from Talladega College, an Ed.S in School Counseling  from Jacksonville State University, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Samford University.

Shalonda enjoys working with adolescents and males, as well as those struggling with substance use. She uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectal Behavioral Therapy (DBT). She uses Client-Centered and Choice Therapies.

Shalonda practices wellness by utilizing timers. A few interesting facts to help you get to know Shalonda better: Her favorite books include the Bible, Aesop’s Fables, and "The Giving Tree" by Shel Silverstein. She also enjoys the movie "The Lion King," because she finds a special connection with Simba. Shalonda says, "The complexities of life are always calling us to be our best self."
