Jessica Bearden, LPC

Jessica joined the Garrett Counseling team in 2020, but she has been working in the mental health field for over 3 years! She is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She has a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Communications (with a focus in Public Relations) and a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Jacksonville State University.

Jessica enjoys working all ages, but she specifically enjoys working with clients ages 17-21 because they are going through such a unique time in their lives. She says “It’s the in between being a kid and an adult. You’re figuring a lot of things out at that time. Those sessions are where the big life questions get asked.” She uses Play Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy.

Jessica practices wellness by playing spending time with her friends and family, going to the gym, reading, journaling, and spending time outside. She has a dog named Grayson and 2 cats: Molly and Jewels. A few interesting facts to help you get to know Jessica better: Her favorite books include "Crime and Punishment" by Fyodor Dostoevsky, "Anxious People" by Fredrik Backman, and "The Gifts Of Imperfection" by Brené Brown. She has always found a special connection with Pocahontas from the Disney movie because Pocahontas was peaceful but still valued justice - traits that Jessica has always strived for!
