Suzy Mitchell, LPC

Suzy joined the Garrett Counseling team in 2020, but she has been working in the mental health field for over 25 years! She is a Licensed Professional Counselor (#1881). She has a Bachelors degree in Psychology/Sociology from Troy University and a Masters in Community/Agency Counseling from Auburn University.

Suzy enjoys working with older teenagers, adults of all ages, and those facing depression, anxiety, and adjustment issues. She starts with a client centered therapy approach that helps her to learn about her clients and determine what type of therapy would best suit them. Suzy is also working toward EMDR certification.

Suzy practices wellness by talking to others about her hobbies of reading and crocheting and seeking to enjoy moments with her family and friends. She is the proud pet parent of three rescues: Scout, Scully, and Huck. A few interesting facts to help you get to know Suzy better: Her favorite books include The Gunslinger Series by Stephen King, Sandman Graphic Novels by Neil Gaiman, and "How Then, Shall We Live?" by Wayne Muller. Friends and family tell Suzy that she connects to the characters of Margot Tenenbaum from The Royal Tenenbaums, Juno, Rue from Hunger Games, The Bride from Kill Bill, and Pam from The Office.
