Counselor Caroline, MS, LPC

Caroline joined the Garrett Counseling team in 2017, but she has been working in the mental health field for over 35 years! She is a Licensed Professional Counselor (#2057). She has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Biology and a Master’s degree in Psychology with a concentration in Clinical Psychology from Jacksonville State University.

Caroline enjoys working with women, teens, and those facing anxiety and grief. She uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Client Centered Therapy. She says, “I believe that it’s dysfunctional thinking that leads to dysfunctional emotions or behaviors, so I use CBT with my clients to assist them in changing their thoughts in order to change how they feel and make better choices. I also believe the therapeutic relationship is a powerful one, so with Client Centered Therapy I give space for the client to be the authority in their treatment and assist with change by emphasizing care and concern.”

Caroline practices wellness by gardening, reading, and listening to podcasts and music. She has a Blue Nose Pit Bull who always wants to snuggle in her lap! A few interesting facts to help you get to know Caroline better: Her favorite books include "The 4 Ingredients" by Don Miguel Ruiz and "The B Books" by Warren Wiersbe. Caroline finds a connection with Laura Ingalls from the "Little House on the Prairie" TV series and Jo from "Little Women." She says, "Laura is fun loving, curious, kind, desires to treat people right, and is tough as nails. Jo from 'Little Women' is quick tempered, quick tongued, and has very little patience for people who limit women in any way."
