Maegen joined the Garrett Counseling team in 2022, but she has been working in the mental health field for over 2 years! She is an Associate Licensed Counselor (#C4088A) under the supervision of Leah Simmons (#3334). She has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, both from the University of Montevallo.
Maegen enjoys working with teens, adults, the LGBTQIA+, and those dealing with PTSD/trauma. She uses Adlerian Therapy, Trauma-Focused Therapy, Interactive & Prescriptive Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Maegen says, “These approaches show up in my session through the concept of viewing the client as the expert on themselves.”
