Counselor Jamie, MS, ALC

Location(s): Albertville

Jamie joined the Garrett Counseling team in 2025, the same year she began practicing. She is an Associate Licensed Counselor (#ALC05743) under the supervision of Leah Simmons, LPC-S (SC3234). She received her master’s degree from Bellevue University in Bellevue, Nebraska in 2025.

Jamie says, “I genuinely enjoy working with clients of all ages and backgrounds, and I believe every person brings a unique story, perspective, and set of strengths to the counseling process. Whether I’m working with a child learning to express big emotions, an adolescent navigating identity and relationships, or an adult seeking greater balance and purpose, I find meaning in meeting each client exactly where they are. My approach is grounded in respect, curiosity, and collaboration—I value the opportunity to understand each person’s experiences and to tailor support that fits their individual needs. I see counseling as a shared journey toward growth and self-awareness, and I feel honored to walk alongside clients as they learn, heal, and create meaningful change in their lives.”

Highlights -
Jamie practices wellness by spending time on the water bass fishing, hiking, and baking. She has three rescues who bring joy and personality to her life: KK, an American Bulldog; YaYa, her "mystery breed" dog; and RedMan, her ginger cat. Jamie's favorite books include To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir, and The Gifts of Imperfection by Brené Brown. She finds a special connection with Atticus Finch from To Kill A Mockingbird. She says, "His compassion, integrity, and steady belief in doing what’s right—especially when it’s difficult—resonate with how I view both life and my work as a counselor. Like Atticus, I believe in seeing the good in people, even when they’re struggling, and in meeting others with empathy and understanding rather than judgment. His calm strength and quiet advocacy remind me that real change often comes from patience, kindness, and the courage to truly listen."
