This training of Topical Issues During COVID will provide counselors with standards to help them practice ethically according to the ACA Code of Ethics. Using case studies and small group experiential learning, participants will explore topics such as courtroom testimony, advocacy, the importance of using decision-making models in ethical decision making, common ethical issues for new counselors, and ethics within the systems perspective.
Learning Objectives: Identify ACA Code of Ethics standards related to courtroom testimony. Identify the ACA Code of Ethics standards related to advocacy issues in current times. Identify ACA Code of Ethics related to informed consent and release of information, including new case law in Alabama. Identify the importance of case consultation as a new and experienced counselor and learn what the ACA Code of Ethics states regarding these issues. Identify three concerns regarding the systems perspective and the ACA Code of Ethics.
